Managing Horses on Small Properties

The managing horses on small properties workshop is a one day, classroom based workshop (usually with a field visit included) and covers the sustainable management of a horse property - pasture establishment and management - grazing management - how to avoid land degradation - how to keep the waterways clean - property layout - water conservation and supply - manure management - property planning and design - trees and plants.

The environment in which your horse lives greatly effects their (and your) health and well being. This workshop shows you how following good land management practices reduces illness and injury to your horse, reduces feed bills, increases the value of your property and improves the environment.

These workshops are usually run in conjunction with local councils, Landcare groups or water catchment groups but they can also be arranged privately i.e. by a club or an individual who wishes to host/co-ordinate one.

Independent Seat Clinics

Gaining an independent seat starts with lowering the centre of gravity and developing a secure lower leg. Many people are not taught these skills when learning to ride and sometimes feel insecure when riding, even after riding for many years. Other people have managed to develop this skill for themselves but are unsure of how to pass it on to others.

This mounted clinic is for eight people at a time. The clinic runs for 3 -4 hours and includes breaks. It will not only teach you how to be a safer and more effective rider but will also give you an awareness of what your body is doing whilst you are riding, increase your observational skills, develop your ability to give constructive feedback. Most importantly these sessions are fun and interactive.

For a review of a clinic from a participants perspective by Tracy Mayhew from CYBERHORSE click here

See also the testimonials at the bottom of the independent seat page

Preventative Horse Care Talk

Preventing colic, laminitis, gastric ulcers and more. Most horse health issues are avoidable if preventative measures are taken in the first place. This talk explains in layman's language what these problems are and what you can do to avoid them. It goes for approximately 3 hours and can be held as a morning, afternoon or evening event. Great fundraiser for clubs etc
